A recent Sage report, ‘Sweating the Small Stuff’, which surveyed Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) across 11 countries found business admin, such as paperwork, accounting and recruitment is taking up to an average of 120 man days of SME time. That’s a lot of time spent doing the small stuff - and taking attention away from the bigger picture.

At the heart of the issue is the fact that many businesses are manually completing tasks that could be automated. And the key culprit is the spreadsheet. It’s a common to hear that entrepreneurs don’t go into business to spend their time considering accounting systems or their approach to their back office. However, it’s an issue that has to be addressed.
